Megaprojects as Symbols
Feb 12, 2020 9:00:00 AM EST (UTC-5)

Presenter: alfons van marrewijk
An Anthropological Perspective on the Symbolic Interpretations of the Dutch High Speed Train Megaproject Megaprojects can be perceived as modern symbols; they are crucial for the encapsulation of ideas, attitudes, and beliefs. This webinarexplores which exegetical meanings (meaning derived from local interpretations) a megaproject can encapsulate and how this shapes the megaproject’s process. We discuss a longitudinal study of how the Dutch High Speed Train megaproject was executed. The findings show three exegetical meanings of the megaproject which were used for strategic goals, resulting in power struggles, delays, cost overrun, and finally a negative symbol of a failed megaproject.

PMP EXAM UPDATE

The last day to take the current exam ends on June 30, 2020.   This time limit was extended.   There are changes to the PMP exam as outlined below.  Additional information is here, https://www.pmi.org/update-center

What is changing?

The PMP is evolving just like the profession – and the new exam will focus on three new domains:

PEOPLE – emphasizing the skills and activities associated with effectively leading a project team

PROCESS – reinforcing the technical aspects of managing a project

BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT – highlighting the connection between projects and organization strategy

Content that spans the value spectrum, including predictive, agile and hybrid approaches, will be included across the three exam domains. The best way to understand what is included in the exam is to review the updated Exam Content Outline.
